刚才我们所经过的路，就位于关沟中。关沟是燕山山脉和军都山山脉的交会处，南起昌平区南口镇，西北到延庆县八达岭长城的城关，全长40里。是中原地区通往西北高原的咽喉要道。明代在这里布置了四道防线，分别是南口关，居庸关，上关，八达岭。在关沟中的叠翠山上，曾有金代著名的燕京八景之一：居庸叠翠，可惜现在景观已经不复存在了。
